How Google Improved Search in 2013 Algorithm Updates

That’s a little hummingbird that surely will grow big and healthy, one day!

Wouldn’t you agree with that statement? Google seems to know what they are doing, and most of the changes they make always seem to stick around and somehow change the ways we do things. Well, that second part is probably a natural part of the process. Yet, it’s fascinating how well Google knows it’s own search engine and the users who use it.

Intuitive search is getting better every day, as a webmaster and a blogger, I’m not sure what to make out of such changes. I am already overwhelmed by the amount of people screaming in my face to produce nothing else but quality content. At the end of 2013, I finally get it – quality content is where the cool guys chill.

The secrets to good backlinks haven’t changed much, and it’s still a bad idea to participate in shady link schemes. Social media will continue to be the strong link for content promotion, as the top social networks continue to march towards success.

In-Depth ArticlesIn-depth articles now have their own special place in Google search results, at the bottom of first page results you might sometimes find something called “In-depth Articles” which will feature a list of 2-3 sites that have a long article answering the question you asked. It’s a pretty neat addition to the search, and continues to show just how important content is to this day.

This changed has made a lot of webmasters rethink their strategies and instead of creating 5×400 words articles, create one 1500 word article and be done with it. I thoroughly enjoyed this change and I look forward to seeing what else we have got in store for us.

I don’t want to spoil everything from this infographic, so here is the full list of Google changes and algorithm updates in the year 2013. Are you excited about 2014? Looking forward to it? Any predictions? I’d love to hear from you. :)
